KACC Weekly Update - October 12th, 2016

Anytime is a good time to express appreciation to our pastors, but especially during Pastor Appreciation Month. Every October across the country, churches give focused attention to appreciating their pastors in tangible ways.

The Apostle Paul encourages us, “to appreciate those who work hard among you, who lead you in the Lord and teach you. Respect them with a very special love because of the work they do” (1 Thess. 5:12-13a).

Let’s shower Pastor Paul and our KACC pastors with some love this month! Tell them, write an email, or send a note, sharing how they have specifically impacted your life, thank them for answering God’s call, encourage them with words of blessing. These words of affirmation will be of GREAT encouragement to them and will serve as reminders of God’s work when times get tough and ministry gets draining.

If you want to give a gift card or share a food treat at any time this month, GO FOR IT!

For the month of October, we are again partnering with Compassion International.
Approximately 150,000 children around the world are enrolled in Compassion programs while they wait for a sponsor. Every six check-ins on facebook this month will provide one day of care; spiritual, economic, social, and physical support for a child in poverty. To learn more, check out, www.compassion.com, and don’t forget to check in! When you check in on Facebook, you can add #compassion4kids to your posts. It’s a great way to remind your friends and family why you’re checking in!

As of Tuesday, October 11, we had 710 check-ins – that provides 118 days of care for children in need. Keep checking in KACC!

There is still time to sign up for the One Verse Evangelism Class. In this class you will be trained how to share your faith in Christ simply and clearly through the Romans 6:23 Bridge Illustration so God can use you to lead others to eternal life in Him. The class will be on Sunday nights from October 16 – November 13 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in CC Room 201. Sign up this Sunday, or email Kathy at kfitz@kacc.com.

Saturday, November 5, 9:30 -12:00 noon

If you are grieving the loss of a loved one, please join us for this one day program, November 5, 9:30 am – 12:00 noon in Fellowship Hall, that will help you survive the coming holidays or other special occasion. A continental breakfast and program materials will be provided at no cost. For more information or to RSVP, contact Linda Minner at 714.952.2660 or call the church office.

Are you still brown bagging-it to help repave our sad parking lot? Our goal is to be able to have the north lot (smaller one) repaved before our Winter Wonderland event. We are getting there, but we still have a way to go! Your sacrifices are making a difference! Pastor Paul has challenged us to bring our lunch to work and save what we might have spent on fast food for our lot. Seems like a small amount, but it’s surprising how it adds up! We will share a “percentage to goal” progress report soon – we are still receiving bids for the work.

This October 31, we’re taking the “Mega” fun to our local neighborhoods through our life groups! Each group will select a home of a family in their group, and join in together to sponsor one of the many homes participating. Each house will offer full-sized candy bars, an invitation to our Winter Wonderland in December, and depending on the decision of the groups, a bounce house (church provided), games, face painting, etc. Our neighbors are out with their families on this night. We want to make the most of the opportunity to get to know them and show them some love! Don’t miss out on the fun and make this outreach a happy success! If you are not involved in a life group as yet, you can click on the listing below and find one that works for you! Also, there are other ways you can help on the 31 st . Look for the insert in your bulletin this Sunday to find out how!
