KACC Weekly Update - October 19th, 2016

Anytime is a good time to express appreciation to our pastors, but especially during Pastor Appreciation Month. Every October across the country, churches give focused attention to appreciating their pastors in tangible ways.

The Apostle Paul encourages us, “to appreciate those who work hard among you, who lead you in the Lord and teach you. Respect them with a very special love because of the work they do” (1 Thess. 5:12-13a).

Let’s shower Pastor Paul and our KACC pastors with some love this month! Tell them, write an email, or send a note, sharing how they have specifically impacted your life, thank them for answering God’s call, encourage them with words of blessing. These words of affirmation will be of GREAT encouragement to them and will serve as reminders of God’s work when times get tough and ministry gets draining.

If you want to give a gift card or share a food treat at any time this month, GO FOR IT!

In this series, we want to look at how we will get to the bright future that God has for us. We see the destination over the horizon, but we need clear directions to get there. Those that have gone before us have laid a path for us. We want to honor the efforts and sacrifices of each of the previous generations here at KACC by matching their efforts. For 60 years, KACC has been made up of people who want to grow in their relationship with Christ and desire to see others have a relationship with Him. These goals have led to different plans that have taken on different shapes as time goes on. How can we meet these goals in our time now? That is the question we are looking to answer in this three-week series.

Saturday, November 5
9:30 -12:00 noon

If you are grieving the loss of a loved one, please join us for this one day program, November 5, 9:30 am – 12:00 noon in Fellowship Hall, that will help you survive the coming holidays or other special occasion. A continental breakfast and program materials will be provided at no cost. For more information or to RSVP, contact Linda Minner at 714.952.2660 or call the church office.

Are you still brown bagging-it to help repave our sad parking lot? Our goal is to be able to have the north lot (smaller one) repaved before our Winter Wonderland event. We are getting there, but we still have a ways to go! Your sacrifices are making a difference! Pastor Paul has challenged us to bring our lunch to work and save what we might have spent on fast food for our lot. Seems like a small amount, but it’s surprising how it adds up! Remember, any gifts toward the parking lot should be above your normal giving.

Pastor Paul shared on Sunday that we are 2/3 of the way towards our $60,000 goal!

For the month of October, we are again partnering with Compassion International. Approximately 150,000 children around the world are enrolled in Compassion programs while they wait for a sponsor. Every six check-ins on facebook this month will provide one day of care; spiritual, economic, social, and physical support for a child in poverty. To learn more, check out, www.compassion.com, and don’t forget to check in! When you check in on Facebook, you can add #compassion4kids to your posts. It’s a great way to remind your friends and family why you’re checking in!

As of Tuesday, October 18, we had 1,073 check-ins – that provides 178 days of care for children in need. Keep checking in KACC!

We’re taking the “Mega” fun to our local neighborhoods through our life groups this October 31st! Homes have been selected within the groups. Each house will offer full-sized candy bars, an invitation to our Winter Wonderland in December, and depending on the decision of the groups, a bounce house (church provided), games, face painting, etc. Our neighbors are out with their families on this night. We want to make the most of the opportunity to get to know them and show them some love! If you haven’t yet found a group but would like to help with this outreach, there are other ways you can join in. You can volunteer to:

Run games
Hand out candy
Supervise a bounce house
Donate full-size candy bars or cash to purchase candy
Provide or supervise a craft
Provide or set-up lighting
Donate water bottles
Distribute Winter Wonderland invitations

Contact the church office if you would like to help!

Two of our core values from our “Who We Are” series are “Belong Before Believe” and “Them Before Us.” In keeping with these values, as Pastor Paul explained, we want to create an environment during our Sunday service that allows our guests, especially those who do not yet know Christ, to feel comfortable, not pressured to give, as the offering bag is passed by. This Sunday will be the first week that our offering and connect cards will not be collected in these passed offering bags. There are numerous secure boxes by the doors and in the lobby where we can deposit our cards and offering at the conclusion of each service. As believers, we have come to understand that the giving of tithes and offerings to God’s church is a demonstration of our love and obedience to Christ, and is an important part of our worship and spiritual walk. We want those who are seeking, to learn FIRST about the FREE gift of God’s grace and salvation through a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Besides the drop boxes, other ways of giving can be set up on our website kacc.church and through the PushPay app.
