KACC Weekly Update - October 26th, 2016

Daylight Saving Time ends Sunday November 6th. Don't forget to change your clocks Saturday evening, November 5th, to make them "Fall Back" one hour!

Last Sunday was the first week that our tithes, offerings and connect cards were not collected in passed offering bags. There are now numerous secure boxes by the doors and in the lobby where we can deposit our Connect Cards tithes and offerings at the conclusion of each service. Besides the drop boxes, other ways of giving can be set up on our website at kacc.church and through the PushPay app. or text "givekacc" to 77977.

It’s almost here! We have homes in neighborhoods all around our church ready to meet our neighbors this coming Monday, October 31! Each house will offer full-sized candy bars, an invitation to our Winter Wonderland in December, and depending on the decision of the groups, a bounce house (church provided), and some other fun activities. If you haven’t yet found a life group yet but would like to help with this outreach, there are other ways you can join in.

You can still volunteer to:
Hand out candy
Donate full-size candy bars or cash to purchase candy (this is a BIG need!)
Supervise a bounce house
Provide or set-up lighting
Donate water bottles
Distribute Winter Wonderland invitations

Contact the church office if you would like to help!

Saturday, November 5, 9:30 -12:00 noon

If you are grieving the loss of a loved one, please join us for this one day program, November 5, 9:30 am – 12:00 noon in Fellowship Hall, that will help you survive the coming holidays or other special occasion. A continental breakfast and program materials will be provided at no cost. For more information or to RSVP, contact Linda Minner at 714.952.2660 or call the church office.

Share the love of Jesus by adopting a family and delivering a Thanksgiving basket of food to those in need. Pick up the name of a family and basket shopping list starting November 6. This is an awesome opportunity for your life group to be a blessing to a struggling family. If you know of a family to nominate for a basket, fill out a form at the Men’s Ministry table on Sunday.

Anytime is a good time to express appreciation to our pastors, but especially during Pastor Appreciation Month. Every October across the country, churches give focused attention to appreciating their pastors in tangible ways.

The Apostle Paul encourages us, “to appreciate those who work hard among you, who lead you in the Lord and teach you. Respect them with a very special love because of the work they do” (1 Thess. 5:12-13a).

Let’s shower Pastor Paul and our KACC pastors with some love this month! Tell them, write an email, or send a note, sharing how they have specifically impacted your life, thank them for answering God’s call, encourage them with words of blessing. These words of affirmation will be of GREAT encouragement to them and will serve as reminders of God’s work when times get tough and ministry gets draining.

If you want to give a gift card or share a food treat at any time this month, GO FOR IT!

For the month of October, we are again partnering with Compassion International. Approximately 150,000 children around the world are enrolled in Compassion programs while they wait for a sponsor. Every six check-ins on facebook this month will provide one day of care; spiritual, economic, social, and physical support for a child in poverty. To learn more, check out, www.compassion.com, and don’t forget to check in! When you check in on Facebook, you can add #compassion4kids to your posts. It’s a great way to remind your friends and family why you’re checking in!

As of Tuesday, October 25, we had 1,480 check-ins – that provides 246 days of care for children in need. Keep checking in KACC!
