KACC Weekly Update - October 18th, 2017

On Monday, October 9th the Canyon Fire 2 in Anaheim Hills broke out while Michael Sears was here at Knott Avenue stocking food for the pantry ministry that he has faithfully served for 11 years. In the past few years he has been the key person that coordinates the food acquisition and volunteer workers. At 11:30 a.m. while he was working at the church, he was called and told that his neighborhood was being evacuated. When he drove back home to get some of his belongings authorities wouldn’t let him into his neighborhood. Michael sent a text Monday evening that his home was completely destroyed by the fire. The biggest loss was the irreplaceable memories in the form of paintings his mom painted and things his children made.
Michael’s text also said, “The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. Blessed be the name of the Lord…I will praise the Lord today.”

Last Sunday we shared Michael’s story and extended the opportunity for our church family to donate to help Michael Sears recover from this terrible loss. Through our donations, we were able to bless Michael with over $6,000. If you would still like to contribute to help, you can do so this Sunday.

On Tuesday, October 31, we are invading our neighborhoods with the love of God in a fun and practical way. We want to provide the best candy on the block with full-sized candy bars along with a totally fun atmosphere that might include games, mazes, arts and crafts or whatever your “Home Team” desires to put together. KACC will provide the full-sized candy bars along with signs and invitations to our December 8th Winter Wonderland and upcoming events.

Our goal is to have 50 homes from our church family making a difference together in our local neighborhoods. Right now we have 32 homes, so we are asking God to raise up 18 more homes for even more impact. If you would like to offer your home, or volunteer at a Mega Night Invasion home, let us know. You can call the church office or sign up on your Connect Card this Sunday.

We can also use more donations of full-sized candy bars to hand out at each home so that the kids will remember that the best stuff came from people who love Jesus!
