KACC Weekly Update - October 4th, 2017
Unite in Prayer
Heartbreaking stories continue to emerge from Las Vegas. This hits close to home, as at least five families with connections to our church have been affected by this senseless tragedy. In our shock and sorrow we feel helpless, but we are not without hope. Let us pray for all of the families and friends of those who lost their lives, for the wounded, for the first responders and medical personnel who have courageously worked to rescue and save lives, and for those whose lives will be forever changed by this horrific event. Let us also pray for our nation in this time of grief, frustration and uncertainty. God has promised to be near us. Pray for His mercy and healing over all.
MAKE A DIFFERENCE TOGETHER
LET’S GET OUT THERE AND… FILL A BAG WITH OUR NEIGHBOR’S HELP!
This is a great way to fill our food pantry, as we share the love of God in a practical way in our community. Inside the bags we’ll receive this Sunday, we’ll get ten cards to invite our neighbors to help provide goods for the pantry. The cards have an introduction to the food pantry and an explanation of how they can help. By putting our contact information on the cards, our neighbors can connect with us to coordinate pick-up of their donations. Let’s bring our bags back FULL, next Sunday!
We can build community with our neighbors while making a difference together!
MEGA NIGHT INVASION
WE NEED CANDY!
On Tuesday, October 31st, we’re once again taking some “Mega” fun to our local neighborhoods through our Life Groups! We want to make the most of the opportunity to get to know our neighbors who are coming right to our doors! We’ll provide them with the best candy on the block, a super fun atmosphere and invite them to our Winter Wonderland and upcoming events. Let’s be good news even before we share the Good News! Please consider donating boxes of full-sized candy bars for this special event.
Malnutrition is not just a lack of food, it is a lack of the right food. Compassion International helps children gain access to the food, vitamins, and supplements that will help them be healthy, active children. This October, every 6 check-ins will provide a nutrient rich meal to a child in need. Let’s provide 250 meals! For more information about this month’s mission, check out www.compassion.com.
PASTOR APPRECIATION MONTH
DID YOU KNOW THAT OCTOBER IS PASTOR APPRECIATION MONTH?
Of course, anytime is a good time to express appreciation to our pastors, but especially during Pastor Appreciation Month. Every October across the country, churches give focused attention to appreciating their pastors in tangible ways.
The Apostle Paul encourages us, “to appreciate those who work hard among you, who lead you in the Lord and teach you. Respect them with a very special love because of the work they do” (1 Thess. 5:12-13a).
Let’s shower Pastor Paul and our KACC pastors with some love this month! Tell them, write an email, or send a note, sharing how they have specifically impacted your life, thank them for answering God’s call, encourage them with words of blessing. These words of affirmation will be of GREAT encouragement to them and will serve as reminders of God’s work when times get tough and ministry gets draining.
