KACC Weekly Update - April 5th, 2017

There may still be tickets left for this great night of laughs. Don’t miss comedians Darren Carter, Eric Schwartz, Gilbert Esquivel and our good friend, Carlos Oscar. They will be live in our Auditorium this Saturday, April 8 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are one for $15, two for $25 and four for $45. This will not only be a wonderful outreach event, but will also benefit Recovering Life Ministries, the men’s group home we support. Call the church office to check the availability of tickets.

You can partner with RLM, too! The proceeds from our Comedy Night will benefit this ministry. Join in to support this important work in our community to help men go FROM CRISIS TO CHRIST.

Recovering Life Ministries (RLM) helps men who are recovering from hurts, habits and hang-ups. This ministry provides housing, resources, employment assistance and most importantly, HOPE for a new way of life through the redemptive work of Christ. They work by laying an effective Christ-centered foundation of principles and values through Bible studies, mentoring/discipleship, fellowship meetings, one on one counseling and support. This is accomplished by God’s grace, private donor and church support, community participation, volunteer workers and staff. RLM’s first recovery home opened on August 15, 2011.

James and Arcelia Chvala are our ministry partners with RLM. Arcelia began attending KACC in 1998. She met James soon after he began attending, 10 years ago. They have been married for nine years, and have a seven year old son, Matthias. In addition to working with RLM, Arcelia serves with our GriefShare ministry, and James serves with our ProPresenter team in the sound booth on Sundays.

Easter 2017.jpg

Easter is two Sundays away, on Sunday, April 16. We’ve been getting ready for our guests with many projects to help make their visit a memorable one, but we need for all of us to be inviting them! People are more likely to come to church when invited by someone they know. Let them know that our services are: Good Friday, April 14 at 5:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. (Spanish), Easter Sunday at 6:00 am (outdoor sunrise service) 9:00 am and 10:45 am, 12:45 p.m. (Spanish). Don’t forget to park at Western High school and take the shuttle (info below).

There will be a shuttle again this year to alleviate any parking congestion. You can park at Western High School at 501 S. Orange Ave. for the 9:00 am and 10:45 am services. The shuttle will take you to church and return you to your car following the services. Consider using the shuttle to make more room for our Easter visitors!

Almost every parent fears the day when their kids will ask, “Dad, where do babies come from?” That awkward moment makes you want to say, “Go, ask your Mom.” In 2017, that question pales in comparison to the questions our kids are facing. The difference between what kids experience now and what their parents experienced as teenagers is enormous. Our kid’s questions, about homosexuality, gender, and politics, leave us feeling “awkward” and “out of touch.” Join us as we walk through these questions from our teenagers and seek to find God’s answers. This series will include an all-church study. If you haven’t yet found a life group, this is the perfect time to join in!

For the month April we are partnering with Vitamin Angels. Their mission is to help at-risk populations – specifically pregnant women, new mothers, and children under five – gain access to lifesaving vitamins and minerals needed as a foundation for good health. Every 2 check-ins on Facebook this month will provide a year of vitamins for children in 54 countries, including the US. In March we surpassed our goal of 750 meals4kids by providing 850 meals!! Let’s do it again! Check-in and help children get necessary vitamins.

Learn how to share your faith in Jesus as your Savior and Lord with one verse using the simple illustration of the “Romans 6:23 Bridge.” This class will be five Thursday nights at 7:00-9:00 p.m. from April 20 – May 18. Sign up at the Evangelism table at the Information Center and help us visit our Easter visitors!
