KACC Weekly Update - August 2nd, 2017

During July, we checked in to provide one week of clean drinking water to a family in Haiti. We finished up the month with being able to provide 1,781 families with one week of water!

In August, we are partnering with BuildOn, an organization that builds schools in developing nations. Every 6 check-ins on facebook will provide one brick to build a school. BuildOn has built more than 1,000 schools in seven countries around the world. This month, as kids in our community head back to school, let’s check-in at kacc and help build a school in Nicaragua. Learn more at buildon.org. and check out their video on our facebook page. #bricks4schools

Saturday, August 12

You can be a part of a special one-day Vacation Bible School for children living on the Pala Indian reservation on Saturday, August 12, from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. This special opportunity needs volunteers to help with games, snacks, story time, etc. They are using Maker Fun Factory, the same curriculum as we used for our VBS! Find out more at the Get Going table on Sunday or go online at kacc.church.

Monday, August 14

We have the opportunity to meet the needs of others by donating blood through the Red Cross on Monday, August 14, from 2:00 to 8:00 pm. You can sign up at church on Sunday or online at www.redcrossblood.org and enter the sponsor code “KACC.” Invite a friend to give blood with you and introduce them to the heart of Jesus Christ that looks to serve others.

As a church, we’ve been given the challenge to intentionally build relationships with those who live around us by hosting a Neighborhood BBQ. If you would like to host a BBQ in your neighborhood, you can sign up at church to receive a hosting kit that includes invitations, a timeline, information how to host the event, coloring pages for kids, yard signs, BBQ sauce and seasonings. More information is available at the Information Center. Let’s take advantage of this opportunity to make connections with our neighbors and enjoy some time together!

Sunday, August 20

Every summer KACC sets aside a special day to be baptized at the beach, and this year it is Sunday, August 20 at 4 pm. It will not only be a great time outdoors in the sun, but more importantly you will get to bask in the love of the Risen Son as you follow His command to identify with Him in baptism according to Matthew 28:19. We encourage you to invite your family and friends to be part of this special day where you step up to follow Jesus. We’ll have printed invitations for you to invite them.

We are planning to meet in front of the Bayshore Playground, just west of the pier.  The address is 5415 E. Ocean Blvd, Long Beach.  Park in the lot on Ocean Blvd, and then walk up 54th St. to the bay side.

If you would like to be baptized on this day, you’ll need to talk to a KACC Pastor first about your faith journey with Jesus. Please fill in your contact information on your Connect Card and turn it in by Sunday, August 13, so they can connect with you about your desire to be baptized. You can also call the church office.
